Why Choose Brushed Brass?
One of the most beloved finishes in our range, brushed brass is characterised by its golden radiance and very fine vertical or horizontal lines. These aesthetic properties brilliantly highlight fixtures and fittings — whether introducing a point of difference into neutral settings or contributing sophistication in more elaborate spaces.
We explore the qualities of brushed brass, how to maintain this elegant finish, and why you should choose it to complement your next interior design project.
What is Brushed Brass?
Brushed brass has a modern and sophisticated appearance that retains the warmth and elegance associated with brass. It has fine parallel or vertical lines on the surface that give it that distinctively brushed look. Brushed brass beautifully highlights fixtures and fittings, where a stylish yet slightly muted aesthetic is desired.
Brass combines copper, zinc, and, in most cases, lead. Its colour depends on the amount of zinc present — lighter shades of brass mean more zinc, and colour can range from a dark red-brown to a silvery, light shade of yellow.
Light and space can also influence the colour variation of brushed brass tapware and fixtures, including light reflection and refraction. A distinctive quality of brushed brass is its versatility — you may be surprised how well it shines next to greys, greens, and blues, for instance. All of these elements play a significant role in how the brass may appear lighter or darker in tone in your space.
Our Brushed Brass Tapware
Most of our tapware is made from solid brass that has been commercially coloured to the brushed brass finish using a PVD treatment. Due to this colouring process, the finish may have some slight variation; however, this provides an individualistic look that will differentiate your tapware.
We offer an attractive range of brushed brass fixtures and fittings for bathroom, kitchen, laundry, and outdoor spaces. Brushed brass products include kitchen mixers, single and double kitchen sinks, and cabinetry brass pulls.
Our elegant brushed brass selection for the bathroom includes shower heads and complete shower rail sets. We have practical solutions like brushed brass basin sinks and wastes, robe hooks, towel rails, insert floor wastes, glass panel clips, toilet roll holders, and door hardware.
We also offer stainless-steel products in brushed brass; these include our Sola Outdoor Shower Sets, which are completely lead-free.
Our extensive selection of brushed brass products assures that the fixtures and fittings throughout all your spaces are beautifully defined.
The PVD Process
PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is an industrial colouring method that uses vacuum and extreme heat to alter the metal’s colour. This treatment ensures a brilliant finish, designed not to tarnish or patina if properly cared for over time. Its impressive durability surpasses the qualities of conventional electroplating.
We also range stainless steel items in brushed brass, including sinks and basins coated with the same PVD treatment.
To experience the vibrant colour of our products for yourself, we recommend ordering colour samples for easy comparison. Our Colour Sample Pack provides peace of mind by enabling brushed brass comparison in stainless steel and solid brass constructions.
How to Clean Brushed Brass Taps
We recommend that you dry your brass tapware and fixtures after each use to reduce watermarking and surface rust. We also recommend cleaning your fixtures and fittings weekly with warm, soapy water to ensure you retain its distinctive aesthetic for longer. Avoid abrasive cleaning cloths, scourers and any rough brushes. Instead, consider using a microfibre cloth and wash using natural cleaning products.
You can also use diluted toothpaste and water for hard-to-reach areas and to restore the finish's vitality. When cleaning, wipe in the direction of the brushed grain to maintain the brushed appearance. Don’t use chemicals or abrasive cleaners, including bleach and highly acidic cleaners like alcohol and mineral-based solvents. If your product comes into contact with any of these chemicals, rinse immediately with warm, soapy water.
